Maureen Doggett awarded Diamond Champions 2014 for outstanding contribution to volunteering in the community.

A volunteer who has served local groups for 35 years has been named a Diamond Champion by the Royal Voluntary Service.

Maureen Doggett, 69, a former occupational therapist at Newmarket Hospital, has spent 35 years working with Girl Guides in Soham and 24 years with Newmarket’s Cheerful Friday Stroke Club.

Mrs Doggett, from Little Downham, said: “It’s really nice to be recognised, although I don’t do it for the recognition. I just love helping people.”
