Man trapped in lorry crash

A man escaped without injury when his lorry overturned into a ditch in Soham on Saturday.

Fire crews from stations in Soham, Ely and Burwell, and a rescue vehicle from Cambridge were called to The Cotes at 9.35am.

When they arrived at the scene they found the lorry on its side in a ditch near the Barway level crossing.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to release one man, believed to be in his 40s, who was trapped in the cab by his seatbelt.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the man was not injured.

The fire crews had returned to their stations by 10.45am.
