A man threatened to stab a group of children as they were walking home from school in Newmarket.
The group of five children, three girls and two boys aged in their early teens, were walking along the stretch of Exning Road between Brickfields Avenue and the A14 overbridge at around 3.15pm on Monday, September 23.
Police said the children were laughing amongst themselves when a man, who had been walking behind them, overtook them before turning to face them and said “do you think it’s funny?”.
When none of the victims replied, the man directed abusive language towards them before threatening to stab them. He then turned away and continued to walk towards Exning.
The suspect was described as white, aged between 50 and 60, around 6ft in height, with grey/white slicked back hair, and wearing a green jumper/jacket and blue jeans.
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “The group was very distressed by this incident and police would appeal to anyone who believes they may know who the suspect is to come forward.
“Officers will be conducting additional reassurance patrols in and around Exning Road at school leaving time.”
