Man remains critical in hospital

A 30-year-old man is still in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a lorry in Newmarket High Street.

The accident happened at around 12.45am on Friday on the corner of The Avenue and the High Street, closing the road until 6.40am.

"A lorry was in collision with a male pedestrian," a Suffolk Police spokeswoman confirmed.

"The pedestrian, in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries and he remains in a critical condition.

"The male lorry driver was treated for shock."
