Man dies in road accident near Barton Mills

A man has died after the car he was travelling in collided with a lorry on London Road between Barton Mills and Elvedon.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called at 2.03pm today (Wednesday) and a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) attended the scene.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “The man was pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with those affected by this sad incident.

“He became trapped in his car and subsequently died from crush injuries despite extensive work from our crews to save his life. The lorry driver also suffered minor injuries and was transported to West Suffolk General.”
