A Newmarket landlord has been fined £4,500 for allowing people to live in an unsafe property in the town.
Russell Wayne Price, was convicted of breaching an Emergency Prohibition Order preventing occupancy at 18 Lisburn Road. This was issued by Forest Heath District Council.
On Monday Price, of Lisburn Road was found guilty by magistrates, fined and ordered to pay costs of £1,500 and a £125 victim surcharge.
This followed an investigation by the council’s public health investigation team which discovered three people were living in the property.
Cllr Rona Burt, Forest Heath cabinet member for housing, said: “We will use all of the legal provisions available to ensure properties are safe and tenants are protected.”
