Chat show host and racing fan Jeremy Kyle will be managing the jockeys’ side when they take on a trainers’ team at the Newmarket Open Day later this month.
Retired footballer now Newmarket resident Mick Quinn will be keeping the trainer’s side in order for the five-a-side contest which will be one of the highlights of the afternoon’s events at the Rowley Mile racecourse on Sunday September 22.
The action starts on Warren Hill at 9am when top trainers will canter their horses followed by the chance for a look behind the scenes when town trainers including John Gosden, Ed Dunlop and Luca Cumani open their yards to the public. The Betfair Newmarket Open Day is raising money for the British Racing School, the National Horse Racing Museum and the New Astley Club. Tickets are £13 online (£15 on the day, children under 12 free). For details go to www.newmarketopenday.co.uk.
