Scouts have been carrying out vital work to protect veteran oak trees in Beck Row.

The group, from the Boy Scouts of America, will be clearing “halos” around trees at the Aspal Close Nature Reserve to reduce competition for light, water and nutrients from invasive vegetation.

The project was organised by Tyler Gleesing, from RAF Mildenhall, for his project to attain Eagle Scout status.

He said: “It’s great to be able to continue the good work that my fellow Scouts have achieved in previous projects and to be involved in a project in our local community. It’s something we are very committed to.”
