Inquest opened into death of ex-club steward

AN INQUEST has been opened and adjourned into the death of former Newmarket Conservative Club steward Jacqueline Manning who was found dead at her home last month.

Miss Manning, who was 45, had been due to stand trial at Ipswich Crown Court later this month after being accused of stealing nearly 4,000 from the Exeter Road Club. She had pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of theft, three from the club abd ten from individual club members.

She had also denied a charge of fraud.

Her body was discovered by her partner at 7.15am on Saturday, January 23, at her home in Brickfields Avenue and an inquest was opened on Friday. A full hearing could follow at a later date.
