Homes raided in drugs bust
ELEVEN cannabis plants were seized at a house in Mildenhall during a series of early morning police raids in the town.
The metre-high plants were found in an upstairs bedroom at a house in Peterhouse Close, along with cannabis resin and ecstasy.
Thirty-one-year-old Shaun Vittles was arrested at the house and has been charged with possession of cannabis, possession of MDMA and the production of cannabis.
He will appear before magistrates at Bury St Edmunds on Thursday.
Another 31-year-old man from Mildenhall was cautioned for possession of cannabis and amphetamine after seizures from a house in the town's Mill Street.
Police also raided two houses in Lakenheath – one in Gorse Close, where they seized a quantity of cannabis, and one in the High Street, where cannabis, cocaine and drugs paraphernalia were found.
A 45-year-old man from Lakenheath was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and has been bailed to return to Bury police station on Aril 24.
A 46-year-old man from Newmarket was arrested at the address and was cautioned for possession of cocaine.
The drug raids continued in Newmarket where four addresses were targeted, and drugs and thousands of pounds in cash were seized.
At a house in Rayes Lane, Newmarket, officers seized cash, cannabis and cocaine.
A 32-year-old man from Newmarket was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.
He was bailed to return to Bury police station on May 5.
A 33-year-old man from the town was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering after officers found cash at a house in Croft Road. He has been bailed to return to Bury police station on May 16.
Police also swooped on a house in Howard de Walden Way where they seized a quantity of cocaine.
Forty-six-year-old John Lawlor was arrested at the address and charged with possession of cocaine.
He will appear before magistrates at Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday.
A flat in Freshfields was raided and cash, Diazepam and a powdered substance were found.
A 46-year-old man from Newmarket was arrested in suspicion of money laundering and possession of Class A drugs.
He has been bailed to return to Bury police station on May 5.
Around 30 officers from across the county took part in the drugs operation to clamp down on the supply and misuse of drugs in Forest Heath.
Det Insp Andy Smith, who led the operation, said it was one of many action days they would look to implement in the area.
"A significant amount of cash and Class A and B drugs have been seized," he said.
"The message I want to send out to those concerned in the supply and misuse of drugs is clear – if you continue to use and supply drugs you can expect to be caught and brought to justice."
He added: "I would reassure our communities that Suffolk Police will not tolerate this sort of criminality and to appeal to them for information in respect of known and suspected drug dealers."
