A host of hobbies were on display at Burwell’s St Mary’s Church at the weekend.
The inaugural event organised by a group of Burwell residents was a showcase for people’s activities in the village.
Paul Craske, one of the organisers, said: “ The weekend was a great success , both days were well attended by visitors.
“When we decided to put this event on we were not sure how it would be received,” said Paul. “ But we had an amazing response.”
Hobbies on show ranged from model ships and boats – one of which took 2,000 hours to build – American quilting, oil painting, knitting, photography, amateur radio, teapots, flower arranging and a pets’ corner .
There was also live music from Burwell Folk Club and guests, choral music, and a ballet display over the two days of the event.
Sponsored by village garage Manchetts, the weekend raised more than £400 for the church’s appeal Building to Serve Project which is a project to modernise the facilities in the church, the next phase of which will cost around £190,000 and will included new toilets and a new kitchen.
