Health day will place the total focus on wellbeing

Sports clubs and fitness groups will join under one roof in Newmarket later this month for the inaugural Total Health event.

Organised by Mehdi Otmann, who is based at the KPO Osteopath and Sports Injury Clinic in Fordham Road, Snailwell, the event will take place at the Memorial Hall between 10am and 4pm on Saturday May, 17.

It will feature representatives from a whole host of bodies including Hour of Power East Anglia, Combat Kickboxing Academy, Sven Grahn Personal Training and yoga group Enerchi Fitness.

“The whole idea of this event is to provide people with an opportunity to learn about taking up exercise, finding out about sport and getting healthy while staying injury free,” said Mehdi.

“The hall will be filled with stands being represented by all disciplines of sport.

“Visitors can speak directly to the instructors to find out more about what’s involved and what they can provide, while the main stage will be used continuously for demonstrations from each club to provide a taste of what to expect by joining them.”

The event, which is free to attend will not only feature groups linked to the physical side of keeping healthy, with nutritionist Sally Fulcher from Clean Body Nutrition and Donna Cooper from the Mildenhall branch of Slimming World also booked in to attend, along with Jo’ Pantry Catering Services to prepare and offer healthy food.

“I didn’t just want this to be about sport and exercise but an opportunity to learn about healthy living,” said Mehdi.

“That is why I have been keen to get a nutritionist and weight loss class on board as well as myself providing injury prevention advice to people.”

Any sporting clubs or groups that would like to get involved with the event can contact Trudy Kent on 07770530645.
