Have a say on £10m college
People in Newmarket are being asked to have their say on a £10 million new college for 14 to 19 year olds focusing on specialist science teaching.
Set to open in September next year, it will be a centre of excellence for teaching biomedical and environmental science and technology. And it will be open to students in Newmarket, and all those living in a 25-mile radius of Cambridge, where it will be built.
Potential students and their parents will have a chance to find out more about the project and have their say at a public consultation roadshow being held at Cambridge University’s cytology department at Westbrooke House, 3 The Oaks, Fordham Road, Newmarket, on Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7pm.
The new college, the result of a partnership between Cambridge Regional College and Cambridge University Health Partners, is backed by major employers in the region and aims to address a key skills shortage in the area.
Students will have iPhones and iPads, and there will be no homework but a longer school day.
