Raising awareness about a cause close to home is top of the agenda for a Newmarket woman who be taking on the Great North Run later this month.
Harriet Chapman, 20, of Doris Street, hopes to raise £350 for the National Autistic Society by the time she arrives at the starting line of the half marathon on September 15.
She was inspired to raise awareness by her younger brother Toby, 15, who has autism.
“It was my New Year’s resolution to get fit and raise money for the National Autistic Society.
“I don’t think there is enough awareness of the disability and those with autism can often be misconstrued as weird or rude when it is, in fact, not their fault in the slightest.
“The disability can affect every aspect of your day-to-day life.”
Harriet has already raised more than half her target amount.
