Group support for ME sufferers

A Fordham woman who suffers from a chronic fatigue disorder wants to offer support to sufferers in the Newmarket area.

Marilyn Munn, 69, who was diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis in 2001, is looking to recruit Newmarket residents to a support group that she has run since October.

More than 20 people who suffer from ME currently get together monthly in Bury St Edmunds to offer mutual support, meet local needs and keep up-to-date with the latest treatments.

“It is quite a flourishing group. We are getting new members all the time,” saaid Mrs Munn.

“People can talk among themselves and share experiences.

“I would not do it just for myself but when I see others in need I do what I can,” she said.

“We have members from Thetford and Burwell but none from Newmarket.”

The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at Nowton Court. For more information, contact Mrs Munn on 07974826467 or visit www.actionforme.org.uk/meam2014 to find out more about the disorder.
