The new Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for South East Cambridgeshire was “overwhelmingly endorsed” at an emergency meeting held on Friday.
Lucy Frazer, 41, was re-verified at a private meeting of the Cambridgeshire Conservative Association, which was called following claims she had been incorrectly announced as the winner of an open Parliamentary primary, held in Ely last month.
It was claimed ballots had been incorrectly allocated to Ms Frazer.
The London-based barrister will now contest the seat currently held by Sir Jim Paice at the next General Election in 2015.
She said: “I am delighted to have been adopted by the South East Cambridgeshire Conservative Association and look forward to working with everyone to secure a Conservative victory at the next General Election.”
Peter Cresswell, chairman of the South East Cambridgeshire Conservative Association, said: “The overwhelming vote for Lucy at our Association General Meeting means that we can put this difficult situation behind us.
“In Lucy Frazer we have an extremely capable and talented Parliamentary candidate. Lucy is an ideal person to represent the constituency in Parliament and will continue to impress everyone who has the pleasure of meeting her in the coming months.”
