Frankel - simply the best
Tom Queally celebrates winning the QIPCO 2000 Guineas Stakes on Frankel.
Frankel has officially become the highest rated Flat horse in the world following the announcement of the 2012 World Thoroughbred Rankings.
The son of Galileo, who was trained in Newmarket by Sir Henry Cecil, has taken over top spot in the rankings list with his rating of 140, after the initial mark of 141 handed to 1986 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Dancing Brave was adjusted to 138.
“It is a great achievement for Frankel,” said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Frankel’s owner Khalid Abdullah. “It is a great justification for such a fantastic horse who was born, bred and trained in Newmarket.”
“I have spoken to the Prince (Khalid Abdullah) and he is absolutely thrilled to have owned the top two rated horses in the world.”
Unbeaten in all 14 of his career starts, Frankel amassed nearly £3 million in prize money, along with claiming 10 Group One prizes, including the 2011 Qipco 2,000 Guineas, back-to-back wins in the Qipco Sussex Stakes and the Qipco Champion Stakes on his final outing on Champions’ Day at Ascot
