A 33-year-old man from Fordham has been jailed for four weeks after stealing more than £250 worth of cosmetics from a shop in Mildenhall.
David Fisher, of Carter Street, was handed the sentence by magistrates’ sitting at Bury St Edmunds on Monday.
He was jailed after he activated a suspended sentence given to him at a previous hearing.
Police arrested Fisher, who pleaded guilty to the charge of theft from a shop, at around midday on Saturday, after receiving reports that he had stolen goods from Lloyds Pharmacy in Market Place.
After fleeing the shop with £254 of L’Oreal make-up products, Fisher ran to the Jubilee Fields where he hid in bushes close to the River Lark, before handing himself in to officers.
