Firms to get the lowdown on spending plans

Firms in East Cambridgeshire are being invited to a special networking meeting next month to hear a council’s financial plans for the next year.

At the meeting on Monday, February 11, at The Grange in Ely, officials from East Cambridgeshire District Council will explain the key projects which the authority is currently working on and allow companies to speak to organisations which can provide advice and assistance to improve their business.

Council leader Peter Moakes, said: “Our annual business ratepayers’ event is an ideal opportunity for companies to ask councillors and officers directly about how their money is spent and hear the projects and plans the authority has.

“Local government has changed significantly over the last few years with less and less money for more and more things – the challenge is to ensure we work to meet the needs of our residents and businesses.

“To help further, we have organised for a number of organisations to be present who can offer advice and guidance to any businesses to attend, from the local Chamber of Commerce to updates on the Connecting Cambridgeshire broadband campaign.”
