Firefighters tackle garage roof blaze
A blaze started in the roof of a Mildenhall garage on Tuesday morning.
Crews from Newmarket and Mildenhall were called to the garage in Newnham Close, at about 8.34am to find it well alight.
Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, which involved asbestos sheeting in the roof.
The Environment Agency attended the incident to safely remove the asbestos sheeting and the garage was cordoned off as a precaution.
A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said the cause was not believed to be deliberate, but added that Suffolk Police had been in attendance at the incident.
Meanwhile, a fire damaged a Mildenhall sweet shop in the early hours of Friday morning.
Two crews from Mildenhall and Newmarket were called to The Sweet Shop in Market Place at about 12.45am.
Firefighters found the old, timber-framed building well alight. Neighbouring businesses and flats above the shop were not damaged.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire had not yet been established but it was not being treated as suspicious.
