Christmas festivities came to Newmarket High Street on Tuesday for this year’s Christmas Carnival evening.

The activities began at the town’s memorial hall where Newmarket Lions had set up a Santa’s grotto and youngsters who had made lanterns at a special workshop session hosted by the town council gather ready for a parade along the High Street to the clock town where town mayor Cllr Geoffrey Jaggard officially switched on the town’s Christmas tree lights.

Business staff dressed up, like the team from the Yorkshire Building Society pictured, and there were stalls raising funds for charity and selling refreshments.
