A former jockey has raised £530 for the oncology department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, which will be used to help give the waiting area a facelift.

Nick Farmer, pictured centre left, from Newmarket, made the donation on behalf of his friend and colleague, Stephane Leveque, who is receiving treatment for cancer at the hospital.

He raised the cash by completing the New Forest Marathon last September.

“Stephane gets the very best treatment here and we really wanted to do something to say thanks. He often spends all day here, and said that the place could benefit from some brightening up,” said Nick.

Liz Hunt, from the hospital, said: “Nick and Stephane’s kind donation comes at an exciting time as we are planning to build a bigger, but more personal outpatients area.”
