Double break-in

Police are appealing for information after two vehicles in Newmarket were broken into within the space of 24 hours .

The first incident, which involved a Vauxhall Vivaro van, took place in Valley Way between 9pm on Tuesday, January 8, and 6.50am on Wednesday, January 9.

After smashing in a window on the van, thieves stole a number of Hitachi power tools before fleeing the scene.

The second incident, in nearby Hamilton Road, took place later the same Wednesday between 3.30pm and 3.55pm.

Thieves broke a Peugeot 205’s window, before taking a black handbag containing both cash and cards.

Anyone with information on the second theft should contact Pc Paul Osmond at Newmarket Police on 101 .

Anyone with information about the van theft should contact Suffolk Police on the same number.
