Dizzee Rascal is set for his Adnams Newmarket Nights debut on The July Course this summer.

The British rapper, whose grime music inspired Lizzy Yarnold to her Winter Olympics gold medal in the skeleton bob, will play to an audience of up to 20,000 at Newmarket Racecourses on Friday, August 8.

He joins acts like Tom Jones, James Blunt, The Beach Boys and Wet Wet Wet for the 28th summer season of Adnams Newmarket Nights which attract over 100,000 visitors to the Home of Racing every year.

The Brit Award winner, real name Dylan Mills, released his fifth studio album ‘The Fifth’ last September and it became his fourth consecutive record to peak in the top ten in the UK. ‘The Fifth’ spawned the top ten singles ‘Goin’ Crazy’, featuring Robbie Williams, and ‘Something Really Bad’, featuring will.i.am

To date, he has released four number one singles, all from his fourth album Tongue n’ Cheek. Known for his collaborations, Dizzee Rascal has also made songs with Shakira, Jessie J, Basement Jaxxs and DJ Fresh.

Confirming his place at the top table of UK music, he was one of the artists to perform at the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Amy Starkey, Regional Director East of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “Some of the most famous artists and bands of all time have played at Adnams Newmarket Nights. Now we are delighted to be welcoming one of the world’s top rappers in Dizzee Rascal to Newmarket Racecourses. We’re expecting plenty of interest in tickets, so all racing and music fans are urged to book their places as soon as they can.”
