A “chic and beautiful” spa based in a Newmarket hotel has received a top rating from the prestigious Good Spa Guide.

The Spa at the Bedford Lodge Hotel, in Bury Road, will be competing with the very best and established spas across the UK after being awarded a “5 bubbles” rating.

Anna Ramsay, manager, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded five bubbles by the Good Spa Guide and are thrilled with the outstanding review.

“The Spa is the region’s first luxury destination spa and, since it opened in July 2013, the whole team has worked hard to ensure we deliver an outstanding spa experience to all our guests. We are delighted to be recognised and rewarded for this.”

The £5.5 million spa was judged on a list of criteria including quality of treatments, dining, customer care and cleanliness.

The Good Spa Guide said: “We awarded The Spa at Bedford Lodge 5 bubbles for all of its chic glory.

“The spa is beautiful and there is nowhere else like it in the area.

“The emphasis is on living life well and enjoying the finer things in life. The Spa is a new and proud addition to the spa scene in the UK.”

Best-selling author Jilly Cooper paid a special visit to open the facility in July 2013, joined by racing commentator and presenter Derek Thompson and Sue Harmsworth, the founder and head of luxury product brand ESPA, which is featured on the treatment menu.

Guests visiting the spa can enjoy indoor and outdoor facilities, including a roof top hot tub, ten treatment rooms, therapy room, and beauty room which offers manicures and pedicures.

The treatment menu offers a range of natural, holistic and results-driven treatments for the face, body and mind.

Guests can stay at the adjacent 77-bedroom Bedford Lodge Hotel, which features the award-winning restaurant, Squires.
