A Brinkley dad completed a sponsored skydive and the money he raised bought a new pirate ship for his two kids’ former pre-school.

Paul Nicholson raised £400 for Burrough Green Playgroup, who spent the money on a wooden ship that they named the Jolly Dodger at a pirate-themed party on Monday.

He jumped from 1,000 feet out of a plane at Chatteris Airfield in April. Mr Nicholson’s children, Alice, 8, and Liam, 11, both attended the pre-school. “It was a way of saying thank you,” he said.

“It was a case of killing two birds with one stone in raising money for them and doing something I always wanted to do.

The pre-school in Bradley Road provides education for children aged between 30 months and four years and was graded outstanding by Ofsted in a December 2012 report.

“It was nice to see smiles on the children’s faces. They were all over it,” Mr Nicholson said.
