A three-car collision caused traffic chaos on the A14 on Monday.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the westbound carriageway between junctions 39 and 40, near Kentford, at 8.10am.
Firefighters released four adults and two children who became trapped in their vehicles after the crash, which involved a blue Nissan Almera, a white Volkswagen Polo and a silver Volkswagen Touran.
A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews waited for an ambulance to arrive on scene to make an assessment of the casualties before taking any action regarding their safe removal from the vehicles.
“Two casualties needed extricating from two of the three vehicles, including the roof being removed from one of them.”
The casualties were taken to West Suffolk Hospital with injuries that were not thought to be serious.
The Highways Agency attended while the A14 was closed for over two hours and a diversion put in place.
