Councils tackle A boards

Moves to tackle unauthorised advertising boards and banners in Newmarket High Street have been generally welcomed by traders.

At a meeting held last week for retailers and councillors Steve Wood, head of planning and regulatory services at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said concerns had been raised that Forest Heath District Council was not doing enough to deal with ‘street clutter’. An initiative being brought by the Council, with the support of Newmarket Town Council, to resolve the problem has now begun although businesses off the High Street expressed concerns that their trade could be affected.
