Council backs new store plan
COUNCILLORS have given their backing to plans for a new Morrisons supermarket in Newmarket’s Exning Road.
They raised no objections to a proposal to build the 25,000sq ft store with a 235 space car park on the former gas works site.
But they did outline three conditions they would like to see included if planning permission were to be granted by the district planning authority.
These were that the impact of additional traffic would be mitigated for and a archaeological survey be carried out.
They also asked that people could leave their cars in the car park if they intended to walk into town and that the store’s parking could be shared by the neighbouring leisure centre.
