Police investigating the death of a man in a hit and run incident have been carrying out house to house enquires in Lidgate.

Officers have placed collision anniversary boards along the roadside and are using automatic number plate recognition to identify vehicles which were using the road between 9am and 11am on Tuesday May 13 when the incident happened. Thirty-four-year-old workman, Aidan Gallagher of Ipswich, died after being found collapsed on the B1063 close to where road works were taking place.

Mr Gallagher was taken by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, but died on the way. A Home Office post mortem examination, which was held last week, revealed he had suffered internal injuries consistent with an impact.

Police are now appealing to the driver who was involved in the collision to contact them urgently. They are also asking anyone who was driving along the road at the time, and may have witnessed a collision, or who saw any vehicle with damage that may have been caused by a collision, to get in contact.
