A sculpture of a Newmarket Classic winner will take centre stage at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show next month.
The life-size clay model of 2010 2000 Guineas winner, Makfi, is the work of 25-year-old Chippenham sculptor, Edward Waites, who will be working on the sculpture during the show which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world. It could even have a jockey made of flowers on its back.
Before heading to London, the piece will be on display at the Newmarket Guineas Festival on May 3 and 4.
Former Kings School, Ely, pupil Edward is establishing a reputation for his equine work and has already completed bronzes of Oaks winner Sariska and Makfi’s sire Dubawi.
