A Soham Christmas fair has been renewed for another year after the town council awarded it a £500 grant.
Event organisers Soham Heritage and Tourism plan to use the money to hire three free fairground rides for children.
The Mid Winter Fayre has been running in the town for 15 years. “It’s always fantastic to see their little excited faces,” said committee member Liz Johnston.
“We thought it only fair to have it on a Saturday so that people who work on Friday don’t miss out. It’s always a very well attended event. It is the only event in Soham that’s free.
“The rides are for ages three and upwards. If an 18-year-old wants a go on a teacup then that’s fine.”
The recreation ground event on December 7 will also feature a chance to meet Father Christmas, with money raised going back into next year’s fund, stalls and entertainment.
