Charity swimmers raise more than £200

Newmarket Rotary Club, sponsored swim at Newmarket Leisure centre.

Swimmers, who took part in a sponsored event at Newmarket Leisure Centre, swam more than 23 miles in an hour and raised about £2,000 for charity.

The annual event was organised by Newmarket Rotary Club and, in the five years it has been held, has raised nearly £20,000, half of which has gone to Rotary’s own Polio Plus appeal and the remainder to charities nominated by the participants. Certificates will be presented to the swimmers at the Heath Court Hotel in Newmarket on Wednesday.
