Cash boost for Soham care home
A CARE home in Soham which looks after people with learning difficulties has been given a cash boost by its local supermarket.
The Ely branch of Waitrose donated 567 to the Robinson House home from its community partnership scheme.
The scheme allows customers to nominate where money Waitrose will donate cash into the community.
And residents at Robinson House have come up with a string of ideas for where the money will be spent, including a new karaoke machine.
Robinson House's home manager Lisa Sayer told the Journal that the cash-boost was absolutely fantastic.
"We want to let everybody know how grateful we are. We are led by the choices of the people that live here, they have told us what they want to do with the money.
"We are absolutely chuffed to bits with the amount."
The care home, which looks after ten people, was nominated for the community partnership scheme, was nominated for the Waitrose scheme by the parents of Mathew Moakes, a resident, who collected the cheque on Friday in a presentation at the Ely supermarket.
