Cash stolen from cabbie

Money was snatched from a taxi parked in Newmarket’s High Street at about 1am on Saturday.

A taxi driver picked up a male customer, who asked the taxi to stop at a garage and at Lloyds bank so he could use a cash machine.

The taxi driver asked for payment for the journey and the man handed over an amount of cash.

The driver went to get change from a plastic box stored in the front of his vehicle, but the offender snatched it from him and made off.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, aged 28 to 30 years, of a slim build, with short, blond hair and wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and trainers.
