Business as usual for Blockbuster’s local branches

It’s business as usual for Blockbuster branches in Newmarket and Mildenhall, despite the rental chain announcing the closure of 164 of its stores.

Deloitte, joint administrators to Blockbusters, said they will close 164 stores in the coming weeks.

Those remaining, which include branches in Newmarket’s High Street and St Andrew’s Street in Mildenhall, will continue to trade while administrators work with potential bidders.

Lee Manning, partner at Deloitte and one of the joint administrators for Blockbusters, said: “We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course.”
