Burwell Carnival in jeopardy

THE future of Burwell Carnival is in doubt because of a lack of volunteers to help run it.

Organisers have warned that next year's event may not go ahead unless more helpers come forward.

Volunteers now have until next month as part of a last ditch attempt to save what has become a village tradition.

"It seems like a long way off but leaving it until February or March is too late," said Julia Hammond, secretary of the Burwell Carnival committee.

The committee currently has eight volunteers but requires 15 to get the project off the ground.

In previous years, the carnival, which takes place in June, has raised money for local organisations and charities.

To volunteer, call Mrs Hammond on 01638 741815, email hammond.julia@btconnect.com or visit the website at www.burwell-carnival.info.
