Boost for sporting schemes
SPORTING schemes in two Cambridgeshire villages have been given a timely boost after being awarded cash from a £120,000 funding pot.
Both Fordham Parish Council and neighbouring Chippenham Parish Council have been given cash from East Cambridgeshire Community Facilities (Section 106) Fund to help improve sporting facilities in their parish.
Chippenham Parish Council has been awarded £10,000 to help buy new cricket nets and provide coaching sessions for junior players.
Fordham Parish Council has been given £9,600 to help with the design of a new football and cricket pavilion.
The Community Facilities Fund is aimed at supporting projects and schemes throughout the district with money obtained from developers as part of the expansion of East Cambridgeshire.
“It is always a pleasure to see how local councils across the district are using money obtained from developers to improve the lives of those who live in their community,” said Richard Hobbs, chairman of East Cambridgeshire’s community and environment sub-committee.
“Once they are completed I am sure it will prove that East Cambridgeshire is a great place to live and work in.”
