Pupils at Newmarket’s Laureate Primary School have taken part in a special
bedtime readings session.
Held after school, it was open to all pupils and was in conjunction with the Exning Road school’s book week and World Book Day held last week.
Youngsters were invited to bring along a teddy bear, their favourite book and come dressed in their pyjamas, while members of the school’s parent teacher association provided hot chocolates, milk, biscuits and snacks.
On Thursday to mark World Book Day, the school staged a dress up day school dress up day when pupils were encouraged to come into school dressed as their favourite book character.
And they took part in a special parade assembly which all parents and families were invited to.
World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading. It’s the biggest event of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
