Bill serves up a Christmas to remember for pensioners

CHRISTMAS came early for 700 pensioners when they were treated to a three-course traditional lunch and entertainment, courtesy of Stetchworth businessman Bill Gredley.

Mr Gredley, who also pays for a summer outing for pensioners to Great Yarmouth, was at the lunch with his wife, Rowena.

Margaret Rolfe, one of the organisers of the event, which was held at Tattersalls on Thursday and Friday, said: "I think everyone enjoyed themselves and as usual we were well over-subscribed.

"This year we limited applications to the over 70s but we still had a waiting list."

As well as traditional Christmas fare, the lunch guests enjoyed entertainment from the Casablanca Steps, a 1920s-style singing group, who also entertain passengers on the Orient Express.
