Bag stolen from scooter

A thief stole a woman’s handbag from the basket on the front of her mobility scooter in Newmarket.

The victim, aged in her fifties, was in the Yellow Brick Road, with the horsewalk on her left and flats to her right, at about 11.45am on Saturday, when the incident happened.

A man approached from behind and grabbed her handbag from the basket at the front of the scooter.

The offender, who was with a woman, then ran back behind the victim and made off along the horse walk.

The man was described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his late twenties, around 5ft 4ins tall, of a slim build, and wearing blue jeans and dark jacket.

The woman was described as being white, of medium build, and with shoulder-length hair.

Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to this incident.
