Art group founder steps down

The founder of the Newmarket Art Group has stepped down after 17 years at the helm.

Eighty-three-year-old Ruth Brooks, who has lived in Newmarket since 1946, is moving to Essex with her husband Norman, who suffers from Parkinson’s Disease, to be closer to family.

The group which meets every Thursday at The Stable in Newmarket High Street, is now being run by long-
standing members, Jan
and Reg Garner, and Sue Calder.
