Waitrose is pleased to announce it will be sponsoring the Contribution to the Community category at the Newmarket and District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
The award is open to any size of business which can demonstrate its engagement and involvement with the local and wider community.
Entrants should demonstrate consistently good citizenship and show commitment outside normal business practice to people, places and events that are not directly aimed at improving their own business profit.
A Waitrose spokeswoman said: “The reason we have chosen to sponsor this award is because we believe that when somebody gives so much to help achieve things within the community they should be recognised for it.
“We at Waitrose are proud of our Community Matters scheme and this has now been widely copied by our competitors.
“It allows us to champion smaller local causes, who do not get as many opportunities to raise funds. We also support by attending school and community functions and are more than happy to support with partner volunteers where needed.”
This year’s awards night will be held at the Granary Barns in Woodditton on November 29.
Forest Heath has more than 3,000 registered businesses, all of which are welcome to enter the awards.
Nominations are open now, so head to the NDCC website at www.newmarketand district.co.uk for more information or to download an entry form.
All nominations should be sent directly to Claire Elbrow at info.bluelizardmarketing.com, or by calling 01638 731513. The deadline for entries is October 24.
