Friends and family of a Mildenhall Town Football Club member who died last year of cancer have raised more than £800 in her memory.
Around 80 people gathered at the club’s Recreation Way ground earlier this month for a charity country music night staged in memory of Sandra Feaster who died on December 19 after a battle with breast cancer aged 65.
From the event a total of £841 was collected for the family’s chosen charity St Nicholas Hospice Care.
“Everyone who turned up on the night thought the world of Sandra. She really loved life and would make friends with anyone,” said Charlene Flynn, niece.
“She loved her country music and would have been proud of what we raised.”
Family members now hope to stage a similar event to help raise more funds for the Bury St Edmunds based charity next year.
“The community nurses did a fantastic job with Sandra and all being well we will stage another event next year.”
“Maybe we can aim to break the £1000 barrier.”
