A teenager from Saxon Street has raised more than £400 for Cancer Research UK after swimming 75 miles.

Fourteen-year-old Jake Thomas-Mansfield, who is a volunteer at the Cancer Research UK charity shop in Newmarket, and a talented swimmer with the City of Cambridge swim club took to the pool to complete the equivalent of just over three Channel swims in the space of two weeks. “Jake decided to do this as he has lost several family members to cancer,” said Hilary Hamilton, branch manager at the Newmarket High Street shop.

“It’s a tremendous effort by Jake. He is very inspirational and so dedicated.”
