Jack Hobbs completed his preparations for next week’s QIPCO Champion Stakes with an impressive workout on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile ahead of the first day of the Dubai Future Champions Festival.
The Irish Derby winner, partnered by William Buick, strode clear of work companion, Dick Doughtywylie, in impressive style and connections are now looking forward to the part Godolphin-owned colt taking his chance in the Ascot showpiece next Saturday.
“He’s in good order and I’m very pleased with that,” said trainer John Gosden.
“William [Buick] thinks he’s getting better all the time, just like his father who improved with age.
“Halling liked to get his toe in and this fellow is the same, although he wouldn’t want it testing.
“We can look forward to next week now.”
The Derby runner-up is a general 6-4 market leader to win the £1.3m Group One contest next Saturday.
