An inquest has been opened into the death in Newmarket of the father of the leader of Suffolk County Council.

Lawrence Noble, 76, was involved in a single vehicle crash in Bury Road on May 26.

Today (Monday) an inquest was formally opened at Bury St Edmunds and adjourned by Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone to allow further enquiries to be made.

Mr Noble was a well-known businessman in Lakenheath where he lived with his family.

Dr Sharpstone said the cause of Mr Noble’s death had been recorded as multiple head, chest and neck injuries resulting from a road traffic accident.

Mr Noble’s son Colin Noble is the leader of Suffolk County Council.
