A hotel in Newmarket has been recognised for its efforts in going greener to help protect the environment.
The Bedford Lodge Hotel has been given a silver award by the Green Tourism Business Scheme after improving its rating to 76 per cent.
During the visit by an assessor from the scheme to the hotel comments were made praising good visitor information, dedication to using local produce and good supplier screening.
The green award given to the Bury Road hotel comes just months after it saw its status upgraded from four black AA stars to four red AA stars.
“While we are focused on ensuring our guests always experience top class service, the team here also aims to ensure that we continue to safeguard the environment, too,” said Noel Byrne, chief executive of the Bedford Lodge Hotel.
“It is great news that their efforts have been rewarded in this way.”
