Dozens of Christmas presents have been donated by businesses and individuals to a Forest Heath District Council appeal.
The Newmarket Tourist Information Centre run by the authority in The Guineas shopping centre, has been collecting on behalf of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices every Christmas for the last three years.
A council spokesman said: “We would like to thank everybody who has donated to our EACH collection. The generosity of the public has been overwhelming and we are sure the presents will hopefully bring a smile to many youngsters having to cope with life threatening conditions.”
Newmarket Lions have also been collecting toys for the hospice at the town’s memorial hall. Donations were being taken up until Tuesday with gifts due to be taken to the hospice on Christmas Eve. Organiser Chris Rawlinson said: “We have been overwhelmed by the terrific response we have had from the public .”
