Two planning applications for a total of 191 new homes in Kentford have been withdrawn.

The proposals for 93 houses in Gazeley Road and 98 homes in Herringswell Road were taken off the agenda for last night’s Forest Heath development control meeting after the council received a letter on behalf of Persimmon Homes, the applicant in the Gazeley Road scheme, which was being recommended for refusal, relating to a potential judicial review, the day before the meeting.

Cllr Rona Burt, cabinet member for planning called the timing of the letter “extremely unfortunate.” “Due to their timing, they have put us in the position of needing to withdraw both applications at this very late stage so we can respond formally to the letter, however we will reschedule the decision as soon as possible,” she said.
